“and I start to wonder.. if a freshly-out—of-a-psychward administrative assistant and a party girl turned librarian walked into a bar and met carrie bradshaw, and instead of talking about boys, they talked about art and books and poetry, then decided to publish a website.. maybe this would be it?” -myself, high on my nightly prescribed Xanax
Ndari (they/them) believes they were destined to live surrounded by books since they were able to read their ABCs. Books never become just a mere object to be read to them but also something to write about, to build a community around, to analyze, to make beautiful - leading them to start bookblogging in highschool, co-designing book covers under the name Sukutangan after college, and creating There But For The Books - an online bookstore focusing on books written by women and queer authors when they were diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) in 2019. After a lifetime of visualizing text, as of late they are pursuing art curatorial and writing, and finding textualizing (or rather, contextualizing) visual art just as fun. Now they live in Bali with their six cats who like to sleep in between towers of books in their house and one puppy who won’t stop biting their shoes. E-mail them at sekarwuland@gmail.com about anything and they will never stop talking. Oh, they also write sad poems (mostly).
